Local Hiring Policy

It is the policy of Unity Web Agency to institute practices that encourage the hiring of local team members and to hire team members from the local community, whenever possible.

When filling available positions, Unity Web Agency will:

  • Post the positions on websites, directories, and other publications that target a local audience
  • Include in the job description that local candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Notify local partners and organizations that the position is available

Purpose

This policy is adopted so that Unity Web Agency may:

  • Operate as a socially and environmentally responsible business with consideration of all of its impacts on stakeholders, including in the local community
  • Contribute to the strengthening of the local economy by helping to provide local employment opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of local communities by allowing people to live and work in their local community
  • Minimize emissions related to transportation for team members who must commute long distances

Scope

This policy shall apply to all hiring practices that Unity Web Agency may undertake to fill any available positions, including but not limited to, exempt, non-exempt, temporary, seasonal, and contract positions.

Responsibilities & Implementation

The Human Resources Department or Hiring Manager will be responsible for implementing this policy to ensure that equal opportunity is given to members of the local community in applying for open positions.

Program Evaluation

This policy will be reviewed by the Human Resources Department once per year. Any changes must be approved by the manager.
